Re-lands Codex's PR #15 content (commit 5a22a41), which was merged into the
feat/ibridge-note-editsbranch (as 2942b93) and then dropped frommainwhen that branch was rebased and force-pushed to resolve conflicts in #14. Cherry-picked onto currentmain(bccc560).What it adds
